"Our daughter stayed there from 3 to 9 months, 4 days a week. Your experience at Blos has been negative. From the beginning, the communication was difficult and non-consistent, helped by a heavy rotation of caregivers. During the visit, we were told that they follow the rhythm of the child; in practice, they don’t. Communication around the food was complicated too, when we ask them to follow the recommendation of the consultatie bureau, they keep doing whatever they feel like. They close a lot, often at last minute notice. 10% of the time for us, and I heard it was 20% for another group. Initially, we have been told it was an exceptional situation, but in practice, we realize that they are understaffed. We also heard from the management that it was the holiday season (???). After 3 months, they start addressing the problem by merging 2 baby groups, with the side effect of having more babies to manage with the same number of caregivers. When closing, they often remind you that they are closing because of the GGD rules to have a certain number of caregivers. No, the GGD is not at fault. Hygiene wise, the floor of the baby room was often dirty (dust balls, old food, unidentified black dirt, …). I occasionally pick up our daughter's cover in dry food on her face; impossible to miss if you pay attention to the children in the room. While we appreciate some caregivers, others seem not interested in being there. During pick up I often saw caregivers watching their phone. Ultimately, we start doubting the baby's care and grow frustrated by the communication. We were lucky to find another daycare quickly, and so far we have none of the problems above."

Dear Julien, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that our service did not fully meet your expectations. We experienced some challenges with group closures, and unfortunately, the GGD was also unable to provide further assistance. We are glad to hear that you were able to find a new, suitable daycare. If there is anything else you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time. ^Quinty

"I was recently offered a place at this daycare and was really happy to find somewhere close to my home. Having spoken with the planning team they agreed to wait until I visited the daycare with my husband so we could be sure we were happy sending our daughter there. I filled in the online form and received an automatic email saying someone would be in touch within 3 days. The 3 days passed (not including the 2 days over the weekend), so after 6 days I contacted planning and mentioned I’d not heard anything back. The lady in the planning team was very helpful and said she would try and reach them. I also called myself, and after being disconnected 3 times I eventually got through to the assistant manager. She explained that at least a week is needed to plan in a visit and so it wasn’t possible to arrange a tour before our holiday. At this point we still had three days in which we could have had a tour, Wednesday to Friday. She said she would see what could be done and would be in touch the next day. The next she called and explained it is not possible to arrange a tour between now and Friday. I again explained that I wouldn’t be able to take the offer of the place for my daughter Lilly since I am due back at work in June and changing daycare and delaying my return to work to July with two weeks notice is not feasible. I also mentioned that I filled in the form for a tour a week ago today. She did not seem bothered at all, and generally the attitude of her is really not nice. At least after this experience I feel confident that I am taking my daughter to another daycare where I have had a much more pleasant and organized experience. This location of Blos does not seem well organized at all to me."

"Unfortunately, our experience with BLOS has been largely negative. When we initially decided to send our son there, the daycare was under different ownership and made a favourable impression. The rooms were light and well-decorated, the staff appeared caring, and we were promised numerous educational activities. However, the reality proved to be quite different. From the moment BLOS took over, the daycare progressively deteriorated. It began with an extremely high turnover of staff: permanent staff departed, and new hires rarely stayed for more than a few weeks. Similarly, a succession of location managers left the facility. The newer hires seldom met the standards one would expect from a daycare that charges premium fees. Most of the new staff were inexperienced and seemed indifferent towards the children. The children engaged in few activities. Rarely did they participate in arts and crafts, venture outside, or go on excursions. Activities we were promised, such as toddler yoga or music, only occurred after repeated complaints from parents. Instead, the children mostly entertained themselves or spent their time feeling miserable or bored. Convincing our son to attend this daycare was heart-wrenching. He detested going there and began asking if he could stay at home as soon as he woke up. On particularly bad days, we often brought him back home. Yet, most days we faced a difficult choice: force him to attend this inadequate daycare or sacrifice another day of work. A daycare should not be like this. We repeatedly demanded improvements, but any changes were fleeting, and the situation worsened. Before we left, the daycare closed several times at short notice due to insufficient staff. When we raised these issues with the local manager, we were simply told that staff shortages were a common problem in the area. Contacting higher management was impossible; the number on the website connected to a national call centre that seemed only to forward complaints to the local manager. However, since we switched to a different daycare located ten minutes further away, we have not encountered these problems. This other daycare regularly organises activities. Our son is much happier there, but the negative experiences at BLOS have been difficult to overcome. I now wish we had acted sooner and not accepted the excuses from BLOS. Other families also left en masse around the same time. Only four of the sixteen children in our son's group remained. Given the dysfunction at this location, one can only hope that a different company takes over, ideally not a multinational conglomerate like BLOS, which seems to prioritise profit margins over the welfare of the children in their care. For new parents, we strongly recommend to look elsewhere. This place is a awful."

Wat de toezichthouder schreef

Basker kinderopvang B.V.

Volledig rapport (pdf)
